I own a 2025 Monkey. I weigh 250 lbs. and found the stock suspension on the Monkey way too soft and at times found it to be unstable under certain circumstances. I installed the “STAGE 3 – Ohlins Front & Rear COMPLETE Suspension Kit – Honda Monkey ** ON SALE **”. I find that it made a tremendous difference in the ride comfort and stability of the motorcycle. After installation I found that the suspension had none of the instability that I had experienced prior with the stock suspension. I am very pleased with the product and believe it to be a necessary upgrade for safety purposes. The suspension is far more controlled and positive with this kit installed. It’s a lot of money, but worth the investment. The rear springs as adjusted when I received the kit were way too stiff, I had to back them off some for a more comfortable ride. I find that these rear shocks and springs support me well and I’m sure that they would do fine for someone up to about 300 lbs.
There are two criticisms that I have with the product installation:
1. The heavy and lighter duty springs for both the front and rear of the bike are not well labeled in the box, thus leaving some ambiguity. They should be well labeled. It should not be very hard to do something like this.
2. The kit requires the reuse of some plastic rings from the stock piston assemblies. It is necessary to install them oriented in different ways depending on whether you are installing the compression, or rebound valve assemblies. It is not clear as to the orientation of the rings in the instructions. This is a critical part of the installation which needs to be gone into in much greater detail in the manufacture installation instructions.
Perhaps MNNTHBX or Ohlin could put out a video clarifying these details.
