About Quick Release Seat Caps - Honda Monkey
There's a lot of storage under the Honda Monkey seat you can't get to without carrying tools, so we fixed that. Not content with a thumbscrew, we wanted something cleaner. The flush mount Delrin plug and stainless inserts is opened and closed using your ignition key, because we assume you'll be taking it with you... Sold in pairs & made in the USA.

Well designed product that looks great! My Monkey has the ABS option and the Modulator is mounted under the seat (in front of the battery) so storage space is limited. That said, I’m still very happy with my purchase.

I really like this product. Simple to install. Easy access to under seat storage. Very high quality and finish. No tools required. Very nice cosmetic upgrade from stock look. Best of all, American made.

For $35 there’s really not much to them, but they work to both fill in the ugly holes in the frame and to allow you to use the key to access under the seat. The key slides smoothly into the slot and the size is perfect, not chintzy at all. This is how they should be from the factory.

  • Mud Pig (verified owner)

Easy install, looks a lot better than that open hole, well made and easier access to under seat. I would recommend them.

  • Scott Valeski (verified owner)

These seat caps are great. Look great and very functional. Would highly recommend.

Great addition to the Monkey. Especially if you are tuning with an auto tuner. Makes it super easy to access your fueling solution. Make sure you check them periodically though. I’ve lost two that have worked their way out due to vibration.

  • Jim Burton (verified owner)

Honda should have done this from the getgo. I have a small storage area under the seat that is convenient to get to and I don’t have to fool with additional tools. Caution… tighten periodically. Vibration tends to loosen them.

Sorry you had the issue. A few points worth noting. There’s no need to over tighten them. If an insert comes loose, you can actually remove it easily from the other side with an Allen wrench. After the initial run, we took the additional step of treating the Delrin with specific primer for greater holding power, which should prevent any similar issue.

    So simple they are elegant!
My wife is from Tennessee so you guys are in like Flint in this house….until football season!

  • James (verified owner)

A great upgrade! A great idea, being able to use the key o remove and reinstall these is really handy to access under the seat storage. Highly recommended.

  • Duane Morin (verified owner)

Refer to all the positive feedback above, they took all my words.

one side went in fine. the other side I only got about half way in and it was not seating properly . I started to take it back out. ( I stopped trying to put the bolt in as to not over tighten and mess up the treads.) that being said I may have over tightened it by a half a turn of a screwdriver. the plastic piece backed off from the bolt leaving it stuck in my frame. Tried using red thread locker over after 24 hours. still broke free. I had a hell of a time trying to take it out from the other side while my seat was stuck on my bike and I could only get a quarter of a turn (if that) at time with an allen key in the space between the tank and seat . I threw them away and I’ll just deal with the regular seat bolts.

Derek, this is one of our top selling products, and we’ve never heard of anyone having any trouble getting them to screw in. In fact, they go in so easy, they’re designed to turn in with your ignition key, not a screwdriver or other tools. There should be ZERO DIFFICULTY putting them in. The only possibility is you had some bad or damaged threads in your actual motorcycle frame. I wish you would have contacted us. You could have run a M6 tap through to clean up the stock threads, then got a free replacement from us to finish the task….

These things fill the hole well and look great!

  • Charles Liner (verified owner)

Saw these on you tube. love the fact that they fill in those holes and can now access under the seat without a socket.

Head came loose from body of bolt, leaving no way to remove seat. Had this happened on the road where I needed access to interior, I would have been totally out of luck. Fortunately, this happened in my garage, where I had sturdy needle-nose pliers – which enabled me to slowly extract the threaded part.. Fail.

    • kevin estep

Contact us for a free replacement, and don’t over tighten them, as it’s not required. Also, should that ever happen, you can easily spin the bolt out with an Allen wrench from the opposite side of the seat.

Great fit and looks great. Only negative I give for them is that since I have the ABS model, there’s hardly a reason to get under my seat because there is little/storage underneath. This is no fault of mnnthbx.

Extremely well made and would have worked perfectly had Honda drilled the bolt hole concentrically. Rat tail to the rescue!!

I purchased two sets of these, one for my own and one for my brother’s 2019 Monkeys. We installed these on our newly purchased bikes at the dealership in Ames, Iowa and then drove with them 1700 miles through 5 states. They never came loose and allowed us pretty easy access to the under-seat space Quality of the product is excellent and looks much better than the original bolts and is much easier to use.

Slightly pricey but they are great and look more OEM than the OEM bolts. One of the first upgrades everyone should do

Though a little pricey I am very pleased with both the aesthetics and utility. Not needing a tool to get under the seat is a major plus. Another great product from MNNTHBX

  • lewis.swindell (verified owner)

These caps quite neatly fill the holes Honda left to access the seat bolts. In my opinion these quick release caps are something the Honda engineers themselves should have developed to fill the unsightly hole. Very well made. I recommend them.

  • steve ptasznik (verified owner)

Like them until they both fell off while riding.

    • kevin estep

      Clearly, they weren’t tight…

  • Timothy Jay Summers (verified owner)

Great quality. Good looking. Do exactly what they say they do.. one thing to note… the 2022 monkey abs has a module in that nice storage spot now. Bummer. No real storage now. I ended up opting for Yoshimura plugs because of this

  • sam amplo (verified owner)

simply put they fill the ugly hole in frame and they make getting under your seat a breeze.

  • David Loehr (verified owner)

So simple and easy to use. It really should be a OEM part from the factory.

  • Carlos L (verified owner)

Since the Monkey have plenty of space under the Seat, It is a must have accessory. With the Quick Release Seat Caps, theres no need to Carry any tool to remove the Seat. Only need the notorcycle key to Access the space under the Seat.

  • Dave Bellizzi

    Great idea. Works great.

  • Emmanuel (verified owner)

These look and work exactly as they say. Easy fit and a great option to fill the gap and easy underneath access if you need it while on the road. The only real downside is the keyhole is visible and anyone with a screwdriver handy could unscrew it & remove the seat. I think an additional slide on black rubber covers concealing it would be ideal. Other than that good quality product.

  • Melissa (verified owner)

They were nice to begin with but they will work themselves unscrewed. I have recently lost one of the. I was constantly having to tighten them. Now I have to find and BUY different ones.

    • Kevin Estep

Two things: Contact us for a replacement, and tighten them. If they’re coming out, there’s simply not tight enough. We’ve got hundreds of these running the roads….

  • Mo

    The Seller makes to confliction replies for these QR Seat Caps;

    1) Don’t Overtighten them and;
    2) Tighten Them so that you won’t lose them.

    • Kevin Estep

Do you own them? I’m unsure exactly what you’re referencing. Like any hardware, tighten them up. Contact us directly if you have any questions.
